Blimey that looks absolutely horrific, nothing like the real Jolly Fisherman!

Yes, the real Jolly Fisherman had a friendly white-whiskered face.

He looked as if he was really enjoying himself.

Ye Gods! I had to check the date to see if it was April 1. Couldn't they put the real Jolly Fisherman atop an unscalable (teflon?) column of some sort, a la Nelson?

Just out of interest what has happened to the life size one put on the station in the 1980s?

Will anyone reading the comments on the Daily Mail attachment please note Dr whoevers remarks re Motabilty Vehicles being free except for putting petrol in the tank.

As a doctor he should know hat they are NOT freethe owners is alway Motobility and the are hired by the user who donates his/her FULL weekly mobility allowance for the LOAN of the vehicle, in my wifes case some £50 plus pounds a week.
Yes all servicing is free as are repairs, insurance, AA cover road tax, these are all included.

If you want a similar car you can get one on a contract hire system for about the same price.

So get it into your heads, they are NOT FREE.
