New 'E' additions to my web site

Post by upney sidings »

The most recent additions to my collection of original slides and negatives featuring LNER-related archive material are now on my web site.

One hopes that they prove to be enjoyable viewing for you..........

Some lovely shots there. Might I just correct a couple of captions relating to Edinburgh?
60098 is at the East End of Waverley station so that's not Edinburgh Castle behind her. I believe it's known as the Calton Jail
60525 is arriving at Edinburgh Waverley from the West so I would assume the train is from Aberdeen (rather than to)
Thanks for sharing the photos.

Many thanks for your corrections, Eric. I remain puzzled by the shot of 60525 because I was and still am 'thrown' by the tender being so full of coal that it's above the cab's roof level and that seems strange after it's travelled all the way from Aberdeen. Has anyone here got an explanation for that?

60525 is certainly heading towards Edinburgh Waverley through Princes St gardens.

Although it is an Aberdeen loco, could it have just worked from Dundee?

I never noticed the coal Mike! interesting but definitely approaching from the West. The building on the skyline is The Caledonian Hotel adjoining Princes St Station
