And what's wrong with this picture? I've heard of artistic licence and editorial oversight but, well, you be the judge.

The LMS Coranation Scot worked by a dodgy looking LNER A4?.giner wrote:And what's wrong with this picture? I've heard of artistic licence and editorial oversight but, well, you be the judge.

No doubt eh, Micky. I think I read somewhere that the poor sap who okayed this to be printed got his butt fired down the road. The boss must have been a staunch LMS man. It was probably a case of "Well, it's a tune about a train, innit? Find a picture of a train 'Arry, and we'll stick it on the cover."
Re: Humour (Silver Link)
He may have been a LNER man giner but if your boss is a staunch LMS man you don't go putting a A4 on the front of the Coranation Scot!!.giner wrote:I think I read somewhere that the poor sap who okayed this to be printed got his butt fired down the road. The boss must have been a staunch LMS man.

Ay up!
If you listen to the piece, the whistle is closer to a chime than a Stanier hooter.
I have heard that the name was pinched by the LMS. Anyone else hear that?

If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

Anyone remember the guy who converted his 3 wheel car into a driving cab of a Inter City 125 and drove it around.

Just a spot of bandwagon-jumping I think. I doubt it's possible to copyright the name of a royal event.Blink Bonny wrote:I have heard that the name was pinched by the LMS. Anyone else hear that?
It's a good job the LMS took a couple of years to catch up though. 'Silver Jubilee Scot' doesn't have quite the same ring to it...
