The Floods in South Yorkshire

Post by x568wcn »

Just thought I'd share these pictures I took here in York the day after the flooding came, and nothing could get to Doncaster, so GNER stopped in York, Virgin could make Leeds and First could make Manchester.
So York turned in to Kings Cross for a day!

I was shocked to see the amount of weed growth between and around the lines.

I've noticed this in other recent photos as well.

Don't they bother to spray for weeds any more in the UK?

Nope, and it's a shame really, when I look at steammin the 50's when Yorks Holgate was neatly tendered, and the North yard had flower beds down the side of the line!
