Returned to the Tanfield yesterday, especially as Hawthorn Leslie No 2 of 1911, new to Keighley Gas Works, was back in service following an overhaul. Looked absolutely superb, on my first visit to Tanfield last year it didn't have the boiler fitted and was frames, wheels and cab, so nice to have seen it as it went through the stages of overhaul. Also in action was Armstrong Whitworth diesel 0-4-0 of 1933, and 'Sir Cecil A Cochrane' was at first being washed out in Marley Hill shed of 1854 and then outside being cleaned in light steam. As always, a pleasant way to spend the time, especially coupled with a walk over Causey Arch and down the incredibly peaceful Causey Burn
