LOOPING of POINTS NERly
Would anyone like to comment on what exactly was "Looping of Points"?
Intrested in signalling, P Way, loco's and most railway subjects. Keen model maker etc. presently aiming to model part of Hull, Springhead yard etc.
Re: LOOPING of POINTS NERly
Looping may be to do with Track circuit bonding as some joint bond wires are looped.
May be a bit early for this though. 1903

Re: LOOPING of POINTS NERly
Thanks for your reply, the NERly got its first TC c1905, so obviously not the case in 1903.Bryan wrote:Looping may be to do with Track circuit bonding as some joint bond wires are looped.

Possibly, as a Blacksmith and signal fitter had to be in attendance it related to rivetting up the Crossing Nose, contempoary drawings show NERly Crossings to be rivetted. "Looping" suggests the stretcher bar attachments, see my photo of the Harrison Lock were the stretchers appear to be hung in "Loops" bolted or rivetted to the switch rails. All this of corse is pure speculation, but somewhere, the information must be documented. Thanks, Mick.
