Mallard Record Sign

Post by Iron Duke »

I know this is somewhere near Essendine, but what is the exact location and is the sign still there?
Is access easy (adjacent footpaths etc) and when was it put up and by whom?

It's certainly still there (although I haven't been past since early December). Access I believe is across fields. It's maintained by some group although I forget who; perhaps someone else knows?

I have read that it is near milepost 90 1/4, North of Essendine. The memorial sign was commissioned by the Gresley Society, manufactured at Briton Fabricators (Hucknall) and erected on 29th July 1998.
