I've been having a look at todays train times on the Enfield Town to Liverpool Street electric trains.
Electric trains are allowed 35/33 minutes all stations from Enfield Town to Liverpool Street. e.g. Enfield Town departure 08:24 arriving 08:59 London Liverpool Street.
Electric trains time allowed
08:24 Enfield Town 08:27 Bush Hill Park 08:30 Edmonton Green 08:32 Silver Street
08:34 White Hart Lane 08:36 Bruce Grove 08:39 Seven Sisters 08:41 Stamford Hill
08:43 Stoke Newington 08:45 Rectory Road 08:49 Hackney Downs 08:51 London Fields
08:53 Cambridge Heath 08:55 Bethnal Green 08:59 London Liverpool Street
In steam days wih N7 0-6-2 Ts we were allowed 31 minutes for the same journey.

Edit...I suppose looking back at this again, you have to come to the conclusion that, there is a finite acceleration and braking rate that is hard to cross, regardless of type of traction. Hmmmm !
