Tanfield Railway 'Legends of Industry' Gala, 8/9/2012

Post by Rlangham »

Photos from today - the Y7 985 wasn't in operation for passenger trains owing to a problem with one of the tyres but was in plenty of use shunting around the Marley Hill Engine Shed area. Didn't see much of H Class 1310 and didn't manage a ride behind it but had an enjoyable few trips behind 'Twizell' and 'Renishaw Ironworks No 6' - although wasn't much fun stood on an open verandah carriage and getting rained on by soot and ash!

Ay up, RL!

The platform looks more like a low retaining wall to me. To tall for a platty.
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

The wall is from a coal drop which was situated beside the turyntable pit at Bowes Bridge engine shed.

Ahah, thanks. Certainly do keep myself busy when in the area - still plenty for me to visit up there, i've only had a car for about four months now so finally getting to explore the ex-NER area, still the Stephenson Railway Museum, Monkwearmouth Station, Weardale, NYMR, Wensleydale and Kirkby Stephen East to do!
