I'm confused as to why 60007 needed a boiler hydraulic exam. As far as I understood it on my last visit (in October 2011), the problem was with the cheap chinese copper used to repair the firebox and the boiler was fine.

Ay up!

Blackout, the boiler and firebox are regarded as one unit for inspection and insurance purposes. Hence the need for a boiler inspection after firebox surgery.

Believe me, you don't want to be anywhere near a firebox that springs a leak under pressure. And the firebox is the "weak link" in the boiler.
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

One more small query, are the boiler and firebox still in the frames, or have they been removed for the tests?

They'd have been removed for the work and wouldn't be put back until tested. I did ask Roger if he'd put it back - after all, he'd had all afternoon - but he said (I think) March.

The boiler/firebox hasn't been out of the frames. The work was done with it in situ.

Was the work inside the firebox, then?

I presume so, as when I saw her back in October, everything in the cab was gone and a few panels (access hatches etc) had been removed from the streamlined casing too.
