At the AGM on 29th October members present approved the change of name to The LNER Society, reverting to the name first used when it was formed in 1965 and better representing it as a line society. Revisions to the Constitution and Rules were also approved but all the changes had to be ratified by the whole membership; a process which was successfully completed on 22nd November.
The Society produces 4 Journals and Newsletters a year for members and holds a Spring meeting and an Autumn AGM with talk at locations within the geographic area covered by the former LNER. A number of publications are available and these are being steadily added to.
Membership is open to any individual (age 18+) or organisation with an interest in the LNER - whether historical, general, or for modelling, and further details and an application form can be obtained from the Membership Secretary: David Woodward 29 The Spinney, Wakefield WF2 6JN membership@lnerstudygroup.org.uk (the e-mail address will be updated in due course).
The LNER Study Group becomes The LNER Society (again)
