Were the GCR 11B 4-4-0 tender engines sometimes refered to as bogie pom poms?
Cheers

Re: GCR 11B, LNER D9
Hi Jim,
George Dow's volume 3 of "Great Central" mentions that construction of the 11B closely followed introduction of the Pom Poms, but there is no mention of any nickname for that class.
They had the same size cylinders between the frames, and cost the same to build, but they had 4'9" boilers, whereas the 9J Pom Poms had 5' boilers.
regards
Kimball

Just read some of the G J Robinson book, and that refers to them as bogie pom poms, so mystery solved!
