Long way off, more likly to see 6115 back 1st if WCRC pull there finger out as far as I know the only locos for mainline in 2007 are the A1 and 70013 Oliver Cromwell (both to be run in at the GCR)
The weather here is Baltic but so were the tank engines

I think Bittern's boiler clock is ticking - so they don't want to take too long.
I heard a comment somewhere that it is roughly where SNG was late last year - so "another year" would seem about right.
Bittern is getting a major overhaul so it was bound to take a long time, but one assumes they fixed all the difficult things like the cracked frame, the wheel tests, etc before getting the boiler tested.

The latest Heritage Railway magazine shows pictures of her boiler being lifted, hopefully it will e a fast track overhaul, imagine the possibilities, Britania and Oliver Cromwell Double heading on the mainline!CVR1865 wrote:it looks like Bittern is a while off yet. was at then mid hants today. didn't realise that Brittania was under overhaul i thoght she was busy being stored.
From what i could see of Bittern she seems to have her boiler back in and the tender is complete so she will be back in steam eventually and i would imagine used for mainline steam.
As for Brittania i would have thought that a three year rebuild would still allow for double heading with oliver Cromwell. Brittania was an eastern loco originally after all.
