Sentinel Railcars in East Leeds

Post by LC&PJRlad1986 »

Does anyone have any information about the Sentinel steam rail cars (or similar) that were used on the branch lines to the East of Leeds (Castleford via Garforth, Wetherby etc). Which ones were used? Which shed were they based at? What years did they operate? I've been told by several people that they did operate in this area but I've not been told anything definitive.

Have you looked in the Bairstow book (Leeds, Castleford & Pontefract Rly by Ron Rockett)?

It might be a bit general, but could throw up other titles in the bibliography or produce leads.

For shed allocations, try the Yeadon series.

That's all lot's of help there so thanks guys. I can't remember if the Leeds, Castleford and Pontefract Junction Railway book specifically references the Sentinel's but I'll have a look over the weekend. I'll also check the Yeadon books and RCTS before I ask any more questions. Cheers!
