carnaby sta

Post by third-rail »

i was down here last week and passing over a level crossing noticed this closed sta though it closed early 1970 it still had both platforms including stone copings although over grown ,and yet with two tracks it had not been demolished nearly 40 years after closure.
it was as though they where waiting for houses to be built nearby to reopen it????
it seemed unusal for them to last as long by a working line
ps this is on the scarbrough hull line

The current level crossing is only about 20 years old and replaced the original one as a new road was being built to access the old airfield which has been developeed as an industrial estate. The traffic would have been too great for the road layout in the village street.

Last stop before Bridlington on the Hull - Bridlington route about 2 -3 miles South of Bridlington. Remember stopping there as a kid in the 60's many times.
