Selby station's 175th anniversary

Post by roobarb85 »

I understand that the 175th anniversary of the first Leeds- Selby rail service is in September 2009, and therefore also the anniversary of the opening of Yorkshire's first railway station at Selby. Can anyone share with me any information about any events marking or commemorating this please? Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere on the site : I've only just been made aware of this board's existence. Thanks in anticipation.

I was born in Selby but moved on in 1973 and eventually ended up in Surrey on retiring.
However my brother still lives up there so I have asked him to let me know if

anything is being planned for the anniversary and I will post any info as and when received
