I have been trying to find some info on the positions on the coach of rear warning lamps.
Am I right in thinking that the lamp irons on Gresley 61' stock were mounted on the corridor connections about 2 feet above the buffer beams. Was there one on each side and was there any pattern as there was for front loco indicator positions.
Did quad art and twin art stocks also use similar tail lamps and were they in the same positions.
What about non passenger stock like pigeon vans, bread vans and other non corridor stock ? etc
Were oil lamps used in alll cases or were electrical lights introduced.
I have Bob's book on LNER coaching stock but can't find any reference to this.
Any help appreciated.
Brian

Re: Rear warning lamps
AFAIK just one lamp - some companies had variations but there was no train code. Oil was used until the mid 1980s!
