Stamp Collectors: Ivor the Engine

Post by richard »

Do we have any stamp collectors, here?

I've been contacted by Buckingham Covers regarding their miniature sheet and covers commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Ivor the Engine, due to be released in a couple of months.

I don't think it is viable as a fund raising initiative for the LNER Encyclopedia, but it might be of interest to collectors, or for other fund raising groups. They allow for some customisation, so perhaps the Malton & Driffield might be interested?

Let me know, and I can forward the details.

I don't know what arrangements Royal Mail have these days, but it looked like a miniature sheet with Welsh definitives and their own Ivor stamps. Ie. probably "labels attached to stamps" used through the post rather than true stamps. But it is a long time since I was stamp collector as a kid and things like "custom postage stamps" never existed in those days.

I did try to find them on the Royal Mail site but only found already released issues - the British Design Classics didn't look too bad. Concorde, Spitfire, RouteMaster Bus, Mini Skirt, etc. The only railway one was the Tube Map. No HST, Deltic or Gresley A4!
