Lettering on LNER LLCK Long CCT in early BR days

Post by icenirail »

Can any one help please, I know from photographs that the BR built batch were initially lettered in the same style as the LNER used but substituting CCT(C) for LLCK and putting a B prefix to the number; but were the LNER built vans repainted in this style with an E suffix and prefix or were they put straight into the style which grouped everything at the right hand end? Following on from that does anyone know when the BR built vans lost their 'B's and gained their 'E's.

I am arranging transfers for use on the new 3mm scale Parkside kit for this van and would like to get them correct.

Many thanks

Paul

Sorry I can't help on the prototype in this instance, but Modelmasters do 4mm transfers for this, maybe worth checking to see if they do 3mm ones?
