Hi
I am going to have a go at scratch building one of these in oo gauge. I think that they have enough in common with an austerity to help make the build slightly easier. They were built by Robert Stephenson and Hawthorn in two batches for Stewarts and Lloyds to shunt ore trains in Corby built in two batches in 1952.
They are quite a common loco in preservation and (I think) 6 survive out of 12. Does any one have any info on them such as wheel diameter and boiler diameter or the amount the fire box jutts out to block the tank.
I think there were 2 at the Keighly and Worth Valley but that was a long time ago. Jupiter is preserved on the Colne Valley Railway. They were all named after myth and legend heroes of strength, I think Samson and Hercules were amongst the other names.
Any help as ever gratefully recieved. (they also had a tractive effort higher than a black 5).
