Replica/Copy Plates

Post by Albert »

I have an identical pair of brass 'dinner-plate' NBL Worksplates of a 1919 built Robinson O4 2-8-0. They were purchased on eBay from 2 different sellers many mile apart. What are the chances that they are copies and, if so, what is the point of taking the trouble to cast these large brass plates of a pretty nondescript loco? I purchased the second plate for a lot less than a Newton ally Shedplate.
I'll know for certain when I see a third one advertised!
