LNER employees who served on ships

Post by crct »

I am researching the history of my later father, Richard Cecil Tetley, who served on a number of the LNER ships in the 1930s. None of them appears on his Merchant Navy Certificate of Discharge, so I have no means of knowing whether he rose higher than 1st mate. He achieved his Master’s ticket when he had left LNER: is there any archive of employees and their employment dates that can be consulted?

One assumes that you have considered checking with Kew, the Public Records Office,
they have a number of railway documents and I know from others that there are
LNER employee records there too, but whether they cover ship board employees I
do not know.
