The BR standard sandwich what a load of rubish. Especally when you compare it to the sanwiches you can get at most preserved railways and I find they taste better too lol

 It's Jamie Oliver.

Would that be the 2MT standard sandwich or the 8P?

Other than taste, then, what would your assessment criteria be?

Given that BR ceased to exist in the mid-1990s I expect memories of BR's catering arm, Travellers' Fare, are somewhat faded. All I can say is that the current standard of catering (both buffet and restaurant car) on the TOCs which I use is quite good: both in terms of variety, and quality. And the prices seem reasonable enough to me given the convenience of being able to buy food and drink at 125 mph.

So - did anyone dare tell Stephenson, "It's not Rocket science"?

assment critiria
Taste
Price
Size
Number of pieces of meat/filling
I think on Price buying at preserved railways is cheaper. Its £2:50 for a hot chicken sandwich that is 3 hours old at warrington Bank quay but for the same price you can buy a sausage, egg and bacon bun at Pickering and it is prepered fresh. Now thats service take the hint Mainline caters. The volenteers do better at preserved railways and they sertainly seem popular. For example the tea room at Haverthwate station is open even if trains are not running

And the sausage, bacon, egg, and bun are all freshly butchered/laid/baked, presumably?

But as for counting slices its noticeable in the size of the sandwich I should have realy said thickness of filling lol. As for Jamie Oliver (cannot stand the blok) more a Ray Mears when it comes to cooking lol

I do when I go for a days spotting but I useually go to Warrington Bank Quay and the food in the Pub over the road is good. I only buy on a station as alast resort. lol My sandwiches are also limited by size because of my lunch box but I always fill it. Pork and egg is a favorite of mine or galic sausage so it is not a good idea to talk to me until about 1/2 an hour after my lunch unless I have mints lol (garlic breath  )
