J67/J69 Brightlingsea Branch photo question

Hi,

a couple of years ago I found a sight online called loco driver.com.uk where someone had scanned several railway books and posted them online, it has since been taken down. Amongst the pictures was a colour one of a J67 or J69 on the Brightlingsea Branch there were several other colour photos of locations in East Anglia in the set also.

I would be interested to know the name of the book if it rings any bells to anyone and also as to who the Brightlingsea photo is credited to. I am trying to find out for a facebook based local history group who have recently posted these photos (below) which I believe the could be taken on the same day/ or by the same person as the one in the book.

I have a considerable number of books about the GER and ex-GE lines and I do not recognise the source with those photographs but I do recognise the locations. The book reviewer for the GERS might recognise them and I will ask him.

Thanks for that, there was some speculation that it may have been Alf Jefferies who took this photo in the same location on the small trestle bridge as the cab shot.

But I am fairly sure the photo in the book I saw was credited to someone else it also showed the locos number quite clearly in these ones I am am guessing it is 68573/8 or 9 that all spent some time at Colchester in the 50s. There are lots of photos of J15s and 2MTs on the Brightlingsea line but not many of other classes in the 50s.

I've had a reply that notes that a photograph taken by R.W. Smith on 13th June 1960 of J69 68573 with an LMS-style brake van on the branch appears in Steam In East Anglia - A Colour Portfolio by R.C. Riley, published by Ian Allan in 2002. So Mr Smith could be another photographer to check out.

The website was www.locodriver.co.uk but as you say appears to be defunct, From other references that I can find to it on various railway-related forums it appeared to be a useful source.

A search on www.steamindex.com suggests looking at Backtrack Number 9 September 2015 Issue Number 293.

I googled the book in question and it was exactly the one I was looking for, another one to order for the collection. I have passed the information on regarding the photographer to the history group.
