advice regarding LNER flatrol wagons

Post by Nova »

I'm in the process of modifying the chassis of a hornby 4 wheel crane to make it more suitable as a frieght carrying wagon (it seems to be a modified flatrol) and I'm a little curious as to what colour the LNER painted their 4 wheel flatrol wagons, were they the standard frieght grey or some other colour like black?

(for the record I am aware that the LNER flatrols looked different to the wagon made by hornby, I'm simply making the best of what I have to give some variety to my wagon fleet)
