Hi,
On another site we have been discussing an engine No 1760(1923 scheme) this is in the NER sequence. The engine turns out to be an ex GCR A5 built after the grouping and was probably using up spare numbers. Can any one give me the rest of the A5 numbers built after the grouping.

There was a batch of ten A5s built after the Grouping on 1st Jan 1923 and before the end of June 1923. These were numbered in the GCR sequence as 3, 6, 7, 30, 45, 46, 88, 154, 156 and 158. They were finished in GCR livery but with L & N E R on the side tanks. Later they had 5000 added to their numbers to bring them within the LNER sequence. These locos were to the latest Robinson GCR design but built by Hawthorn Leslie.
The 13 LNER engines in the 1925 batch mentioned by Pyewipe Junction were nearly 5 tons heavier and their design is ascribed to Gresley in the ABC for 1943 (?). All the earlier engines were subsequently modified with side window cabs, and a dome and chimney to the LNER loading gauge.
