Whilst browsing in a supermarket magzine rack I noticed that the Hornby Magazine has a competition to win £100 worth of goods as it's their 100th issue.
The competition has only one question:-
'When did GWR ‘City’ 3440 City of Truro achieve the first recorded 100mph run in British railway history?'
And it gives three choices for the answer;- 1904, 1905 & 1906.
I was going to enter but as the correct answer is not there I assume it's a trick question!

Re: The Hornby Magazine 100 prize giveaway!
There is a whole debate in there about relying solely on Rous-Marten's manual recording, as a fellow recorder on the train only calculated it at 99-100 m.p.h.
However, neglecting that part of the debate, it did happen in a year that is one of the choices presented.
