This will become the same type as one I am doing for Jim at the moment (Papyrus) to round dome A3 condition and will when rebuilt become the ill fated Grand Parade.
At the moment is not in much better condition than the original after the Castlecary accident in which it was written off.

I noticed there was another NRM 4472 loco body on eBay yesterday, looking as if somebody had thrown it from an upper storey window. Maybe that's typical behaviour of owners of these models?

I went for that, or something similarly damaged, and asked about the tender - it looked like the chassis had been cracked judging by the photo. Was assured it was fine. Needless to say I got outbid.

Papryus

Another one for Jim. This has been converted from the USA Cowcatcher version.

New Dome, Bufferbeam cutdown and resized filled and new lining and number, vac pipe added . Cylinders changed to correct version. Tender converted to 1928 spec.Renamed and numbered , Boiler relined and top painted to match original colour which is not a shade of Apple Green I have ever seen on any other current Hornby LNER Loco .

That is very good indeed. To be absolutely correct you need to reprofile the front tender plate and add a coal rail above the corridor. See my pics elsewhere in the forums. That would make the model which is very nice 100%.

In what way does the tender front plate need changing ? If its the height? I wouldnt ruin the Lining to change personally.

There is a handrail added to the interior of the tender, probably the angle of the photo. Look at my earlier photos there are five versions lined up.

Life would be easy if the HMRS lining sheet had enough correct curves on the sheet.

If you use Humbrol decal fix you can soften and curve a length of HMRS lining to the correct profile. I've done one of my tenders so far and will post pics in due course.

Never heard of that option before. Having battled with a couple of Non corridor rear ends in the past I look forward to the pictures.

I've never understood why Hornby have not focused on Papyrus as they have on other LNER record breakers. Now it doesn't matter as I have the arrival of Mick's superb conversion to look forward to.

Allan's point is well made re the height of the tender plate, but I'm afraid I have to ask Mick to work within a budget and sometimes there has to be an element of compromise.

Sorry lining isnt as good as the Hornby version IMHO. Is this done using Humbrol?

I used Carrs Transfix which I happened to have around. Personally I'd rather have the lining as it is than an incorrect front plate.

This was my first attempt and I suggest that with practise a better result could be obtained.
