Looks like an ex-North Eastern third to me. A number of North Eastern coaches were cascaded to the GE section in the 1930s.
Re: Photos on LNER lines more added 23rd March from 1947 on
More added again mainly from the Nottingham and Cambridge areas.

Ford Castle is in fact a Thompson B2 - a rebuild from class B17. Tall running plate, NER tender too I think.

Thanks - I actually knew that and forgot when I typed up the caption, so I've amended it.
By the way I've stayed at the real Ford Castle in the days when it was a field study centre - a very nice place by the Cheviots up here in Northumberland.

Some more added today
Kings Cross locoshed, Liverpool Street, Nottingham etc. Almost all ex LNER lines.
Includes E1057, later B1 61057 which was withdrawn in 150 following a collision in fog. Seen here as E1057.
Also an A1 before it was named.

Looks like E1302 to me - a Cambridge engine whereas 1312 was at Sheffield.DaveF wrote:S.A.C. Martin wrote:Astounding - E1312! I'm looking through my Yeadons and my RCTS volumes for the B1s and I can't find a hint of that livery variation on that particular locomotive. Great find that.
It must have been built just at the time when the numbering system was being sorted out. The LNER numbers seem to stop at 1303, then it is the BR numbering from 61304 according to brdatabase info. So if it was only the 9th built after the LNER numbers were no longer used by North British it may well have had the E prefix to start with.

This one shows a Thompson L1 in the foreground, and a Gresley A3 - look at the front frames and superheater header.
That's a good shout RE the B1, on further examination E1302 might be the ticket.

It could be, I left it as 1312 as when enlarged and oversharpened the number doesn't seem to have any curves, but I'm not sure either. Also his own notes said 1312, but Dad was not infallabile!.S.A.C. Martin wrote:http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf200 ... hotostream

Edit, I've added to the caption a note about it quite likely being 1302, if we ever know for sure I'll change it permanently.

More added again this evening, some from 1947 around Cambridge, Nottingham and one at York.
As always any additional information or correction to my errors will be welcome.
These images hadn't been fully catalogued by Dad, I am most certain of the dates!

Nice to see an O4/5 at Grantham, especially in the Canal Sidings.
The loco was a Colwick engine at the time, so that fits really well.
