Drummond 700 wheelbase is 7'6" + 9', as discussed elsewhere on this forum in relation to the J6...

Thanks (Surely the K1 mechanism is the pick from what's now available in RTR to power a J6?)

Spring loaded slide on truck, it won't rotate, but will allow sideways sliding, as well as a little bit of up and down movement, trying hornby ring field motor springs for the spring.

Can't seem to find any Bachmann Jinty's anywhere; could we substitute a Hornby chassis in a pinch?

I'm not sure. The nu cast N9 I have uses a triang 0-6-0 chassis, the wheelbase is slightly out, a touch long, and I'd say the same would apply for the hornby too, it would depend how much hacking you'd want to do.
The N9 is at, the moment a neater underside than the N10, but obviously you'd be purchasing a Bachmann C class rather than a jinty as the donor for it, which is more expensive.

So yesterday I set away a print, two locos, the N9 and N10, to do a fit trial.

I stopped the print this morning so I could check it over before work. I don't need a chimney for a fit trial, and the models were likely to need minor (or major) changes anyway.

As it was, both printed rather well (these pics are of the N10 only)

The side valances are slightly deeper than the J21's, and I had failed to factor in for that with the sacrificial frame (which was referenced from the top surface of the running plate), so they were tough to get off, resulting in taking a lump of the valance with it. This was easy to amend.

The N9 is more straightforward, as it used all of the chassis interfaces and pockets established with the J21, only the rear has changed underneath.

The trialled buffer shanks came out quite well, I want to add 0.1mm onto the diameter for a little extra strength, but otherwise I just need to see how the Markits buffers fit. Having these shanks on the model gives me a new surface to create buffer-beam supports off, so there are less supports that have to be cut off the beam itself, and the inboard pockets have been carried on up to the running plate, thus creating some decent supporting surfaces close to the outside edge of the buffers, often an area that needs as much strength as it can, as its thin and highly loaded.

Thanks Manna. A few minor tweaks and it's ready for another go when I can get it on the printer, at the moment it's working through a backlog of J21's. Happily the proceedings of previous J21's has meant I can invest in a photon mono SE, which will help with the workload. A friend of mine is getting loan of the 'old' photon S which started me off in resin printing haha.
