G5 1839

Post by Sniffer »

Researching this loco out of interest, and also with a view to hopefully modelling it.
I'm already aware that 1839 was allocated to Starbeck (50D), but permanently allocated to Pateley Bridge.

Questions:
1.) At which date did it switch from 1839 to 7253 ?
2.) When was 1839 converted to push-pull ?
3.) Did it still have that number after conversion ?
4.) Which livery did it carry after conversion ? Plain black or black with red lining ?

I know there are plenty of references (on line and elsewhere) but some contradict each other. Or at least blur some of the timelines.

Thanks in anticipation.

1. 15-12-1946
2. Ex-works 26-7-1939
3. See above.
4. Yeadon states lined black.

Source of all the above Yeadon Vol. 38.

Thanks for that John.

I don't have any of the Yeadon books.
Very helpful.
