In answer to Graeme's query, I hope Morgan doesn't mind me reproducing what he stated on RMWeb:
Some of these models have certainly been delivered as I received this model in May 2013, in plain black, for application of lining and number. I must say, however, that I was not that impressed with the quality. The model as supplied had a few assembly issues and required some remedial work. More remarkable was the cast body. My immediate reaction was that a cast white metal body had been used as the master. Some very thick edges/beading on the cab side cutouts in addition to a lack of crisp horizontal and vertical edges along tank sides / tops and running plate. This made the lining out particularly difficult in places. It certainly put me off ever wanting a product from 00 Works. But that is just my opinion and when viewed in the round it looks like a C13.

I have no issues with assembly that require remedial work, and the edges/beading around the cab side cut-outs may be heavier than they should be, but I am not offended by them. They could always be reduced. The horizontal and vertical edges also seem fine to me on my model.

I have no qualms in displaying 5179 alongside the very best RTR I have in my collection. :D

As far as running qualities are concerned I'm afraid I will have to leave that to others to comment on.

I also had better do some work as I have spent half the day on the Forum!

Might I ask when you ordered your C13? I ordered mine around August 2013 and was told it would be ready 'early in the New Year'. At this rate I may be able to pick it up when I visit UK later this year!
cheers,

Good morning all
The Nucast C13 seems to be fetching high prices on Ebay and other auction sites.
One recentley went for around £90. If one adds Markits wheels, Gibson chassis, Mashima motor, and High Level gearbox, it comes to around £180 pounds, then there is painting it etc. So the OOWorks loco is not a bad price.
However, I'll wait to see if Bachmann produce one.

One other point, I note on your picture 2002 that one of the rear protective grills appears to be missing from the cab?
I'm not sure my question was clear in my previous post, but when did you order your C13? Mine was ordered August 2013, still not heard anything.
Cheers,
Peter C.

Jim,

No problem with you repeating it here. It seems that most people are happy with the quality of the C13 that has been produced by 00 works. Besides, quite a few know that I'm a picky b****r. When you opened the box on yours did you nearly get knocked over by the smell of enamel thinners? The model I was sent to line out had obviously been painted and put straight into the box once touch dry. I left in out on a shelf for nearly a month before tackling the lining job just in case.

Cheers....Morgan

Sorry Peter I cannot honestly remember. I ordered over the phone and it was rather an informal affair which left me with little confidence that they actually would remember my order!

On reflection I was rather unfair!

The lady who answers the phone is very nice and would I'm sure do her best to accommodate you.

Do you need contact details?

PS: Never noticed the missing grille

Thanks Morgan, hope you're well?

Sadly no intoxicating fumes to put me on a high for the day! :(
