Re: Great British Locomotives Magazine
Progress on my lot; 4483 (apple green, full black smokebox), 60008 / 60026 (can't decide) and an as yet unidentified A3. The dome is in the same position as my USA Scotsman and late BR 60043, the washout plugs match neither, so I'm confused as to the options I have with this A3. I elected for no smoke deflectors, but late Br Green (unless there is a postwar LNER example I can get away with?)

Let's hope they are truly a correct curve, even when applied to the curves of the A4 body.mick b wrote:Modelmaster now do a Parabollic curve on a BR lining sheet for the A4
A set on the LNER / SR white-black-white lining sheet, to the fully correct shape, would be appreciated rather more than having them on a BR sheet that LNER modellers may not want.
I see you've been busy too.60800 wrote:Progress on my lot;

Re: Great British Locomotives Magazine
The sheet is aimed at LNER and BR as it is a mixture of white black white and white white as used on BR Express Blue as on SNG
Not a bad fit

Potentially a very useful addition to their range.
Re: Great British Locomotives Magazine
This may or may not be of interest…!
I have recently contacted the company behind these models. They are willing to give a 20% discount on a bulk order with a minimum of 100 units. 10 people buying 10 models each could get a reasonable overall discount on the models.
As I say, may or may not be of interest to the group.

Certainly of interest Simon! I would seriously consider participating if the deal was "right".S.A.C. Martin wrote:This may or may not be of interest…!

I suspect that the members of this forum may already have sufficient A4s and A3s, or be in that position soon. However, there are clearly other models that could have great potential such as the D11 and K3.
If the manufacturer would share information on their construction, then we would be able to determine the modelling potential.
Of course, should there be a consensus, which may in itself be difficult to achieve, then someone would have to administer the process and control the money. Amer.com will only want to deal with one person I'm sure.
It may prove a challenge!
PS: A final thought - what about simply asking for tender bodies etc rather than whole locos?

Re: Great British Locomotives Magazine
All this talk of "tender bodies" will get me and Vern going again if you're not careful.....
Seriously though, if the tenders are a separate option, the GC versions might have some appeal, but probably more so if they are the low front (non self-trimming) type which have wider application, and that's unlikely if GBL copy Butler-H as preserved. A boost to the supply of low-front LNER GS tenders would be useful too. I can't see myself wanting ten of any of the loco models.

G'day all
The tenders are all that appeal to me.
I'd love to see the non self trimming GCR tender. I must check my drawings to see if I can spot the difference.
In whitemetal SE finecast cover the low front GS tenders (except the stepped out coping 3500gal version fitted to early J39/1). Dave Alexander covers high front slab sided GS tenders.
Dave Alexander also produces a GCR tender (noted as standard on his old website).
I'd like someone to produce GNR tenders. LRM do several Stirling tenders at a price.

Re: Great British Locomotives Magazine
FS not so easy to get hold of here now - the Scone Newsagent only had one in stock! I've asked my own local one who delivers our papers to get me another one as that is all I can see I will need - two more 1928 Corridor Tenders - one to replace the one I nicked for the original 10000 project (when SEF come up with the parts for the loco body), and one to convert for Seagull with cut down back for the 1948 Exchanges.
It may be unfortunate that the first model proved so popular as time passes and of course the price has gone up it may have a detrimental effect on who will stock them! As I understand Newsagents hold them until the next issue comes and then they are returned - with normal magazines this usually involves ditching them, but with these specials I don't quite know what happens?

Re: Great British Locomotives Magazine
My local Asda has the LMS Coronation and the FS on the same shelf, so one isn't necessarily returned when another comes out.

Same at Hinckley Asda.Kestrel wrote:My local Asda has the LMS Coronation and the FS on the same shelf, so one isn't necessarily returned when another comes out.
WH Smith at The Fort near Birmingham on the other hand, appear to clear the old issues into the warehouse ready to return. WH Smith Hinckley totally sold out of Issue 1.
Different stores, different policies?
Re: Great British Locomotives Magazine
Gents - can confirm they will only sell the whole model, no parts separately. However - not the end of the world surely?
I think I will get four more 4472s and be done with it for the tenders. Plenty of material for modelling now!

Re: Great British Locomotives Magazine
Spent the day playing with tenders. Have just created one of the cut down ones for the 1948 exchanges using one of the GBLC FS bodies. Also took one of the GBRC Flying Scotsman loco bodies to bits. Don't think there is a lot I can use here but its gone in the bits box so we will see!
