For all those who have expressed an interest in the V2 body, by one means or another, may I use this opportunity to acknowledge your messages and to say thank you, even if I haven't managed to reply individually. If/when I manage to turn out a consistently successful result in resin, and work out what the cost is, please confirm what if anything you require.

Safely say I would be interested in several V2 body shells, probably up to 5 or 6.

Another one for a V2 boby here. Probably some GNR coach parts as well if that's ok.

Re: Atlantic's works inc. RTRconversions. Hornby GN coaches
PM has been sent.....
Today I seem to have been able to stop "pretending to be ill" so I've actually made some progress with the long suffering V2 project. No wonder I couldn't do this while I was very tired with a brain as effective as cotton wool, because it has certainly proved taxing today even now I feel fine. I've given a lot of thought to finishing up with flash and mould lines in places that are inconspicuous or which can easily be cleaned up. I've thought about features that have caused trouble in previous similar types of mould, and have tried to be a step ahead of the game in providing means for resin to get right in, and air to be swept right out. Much as it might have been nice to mould as many complete details as possible onto the body, I have erred on the side of caution so as to avoid creating traps for tiny air bubbles. The subsidiary moulds I already have, and Morgan's most recent detailing etch will supply almost everything "unique" that needs to be added externally to a finished body.
This "bathtub" structure will be stuck (base down) to the floor of a moulding box in due course, but I shall firstly fill most of the cab space with rubber with the body standing on its nose, and then add a thin sheet across the rear of the cab to close off that end of the structure. The outer mould can then be poured. After that cures, I'll invert the whole thing, break away the black dummy walls below running plate level, add a decent "injection tube" for resin just behind the top part of the baffle in the smokebox, extend the breather tubes on the buffer beam upwards, and play about with a secret plan to preserve some air space down the middle of the boiler. This will allow me to pour the bottom and core section of the mould without having to make the interior of the boiler slab-sided as in older styl one-piece injection mouldings - the preserved air space should allow the boiler core to "squeeze in" a bit as it is pulled out through the slot in the bottom of the boiler. Well that's the plan anyway. The cab core will either "fold out" of the cab at the rear, remaining part of the main bottom and core piece, or I'll detach it so as to have two separate core pieces. Will it work? Who knows!

I am sure there are many of us with fingers crossed for a successful result. If you are able to achieve this, it will be a real landmark achievement. VERY GOOD LUCK!

If you pull this one off Graham, it will be a real eye opener and I wish you every success, a good lottery win tonight will have Hornby bought and you installed as chief designer.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
