Workbench Update - J50 nearing completion

looks good- will look even better with correct boiler fittings, wire handrails etc etc. Only issue I notice from the photos is the cab side opening looks a little shallow- pics seem to show the lower edge situated lower than the level of the side tanks.

It look excellent I have a Lima 00 one and it almost looks better as is.

The cab cuttouts were 3'3 long by 2'6.5 high with 6" radius corners.

Thanks guys - I always loved my Lima J50 but it was the worst runner ever!

Will, the cab cut outs look to shallow in some of the pics as I still had the last layer to add which provided the lip to the tank sides and now the cut outs look better but might need a little more filing down.

Bill, wow, thanks for the info - where on earth did you get that tit bit though???! :shock:

Ahhh - I should've know! 8) I don't suppose you've got one for a P1 by any chance?

Anyway, I won a very similar item to the one in the picture on an auction site yesterday any guess what its going to be turned into.... eventually....

Well, i'm going to model hornsey and hitchin and to the best of my knowledge only two p2's ran out of kx before going to scotland so i guess that might narrow it down a bit.

Which P2?

Hmm, two were shedded at Doncaster so I guess it's either of them, I'll go for 2001 Cock Of The North. Are you going for the original version or the streamlined rebuild?

Correct! I'd like to go with her in as built condition, something about that design that always appealed to me...

The J50 is still progressing, painted it black and made cab steps (forground of the picture) which I have just finished shaping and fitted to the body. Picture shows the J50 next to my ABS J52 for comparisum.
