Good morning all
I was thinking earlier, and if Atlantic casts his Fox bogies one at a time, he'll have a queue from Kings Cross to Leeds waiting for them.
With Hornby Howden conversions added to NER and GCR Clerestory conversions, there is bound to be a great demand for Fox bogies.
I also found his notes for GCR clerestory conversions on another forum from a while back and they are very useful.

PS I'm guessing about GCR Clerestory bogies as I've never seen a drawing for one.

Pictures will probably have to wait until after the weekend, for which I'm very busily preparing, but I've also made some progress on the BCK to BTK or BFK conversion now, including the inset van sides. I've also found myself looking at the Hornby CK bodyshell with its rounded ends removed and wondering whether there's a plausible approximation to a Gresley pre-group non-corridor coach hiding in there somewhere, with or without some swapping around of sections of the sides.

Sorry to contact you out of the blue like this, via the forum, but I've only recently joined and don't have the facilities to message yet. I think we met briefly at the East Midlands Model Railway exhibition when you showed me your completed O4/5 a la Bill Bedford - and a fine model you made of it too. And by the way, since then I have completed 63851 in EM with 63745 to follow when I get round to building a chassis for it.

I haven't had chance to look through all 208 pages here yet although given time.... but may I say you've done some lovely work.

I understand you make replacement chimneys for the Hornby O1. If this is correct how would I go about ordering a couple from you?

As I explained by email, we have had a lot of spam problems, so all new posts now have to be moderated. This has been in place for almost a month and during this time, the number of moderators has been increased.

PMs are locked down for new members because it would be very easy for a spam account to be created, not post a single thing (which is what usually gives them away as being spam accounts) and PM-spam everyone on the forums. This is not a theoretical consideration - it has happened before, and it took the good part of a week to clean up the mess.

After a busy "day off" yessterday, including such delights as standing in the queue at a sub Post Office breathing in the stench of humanity (the smell was like a stables over-due for mucking out, do some people never wash or question their oral hygiene?) I managed to get on a bit with the Howldenisation of coaches last night. A simple and successful way to bond the roof neatly and firmly to the top edges of the sides has emerged. I was also busy for some time with a 1.5mm drill and a couple of small files, having been threatened by that Weallans bully over the weekend. He said he would nick my dinner money if I didn't get rid of the ventilator hoods over the coach doors and put proper GN style fan-lights in. In addition, I've made a handy discovery. There's already a central slot in the floor immediately behind the headstock of these coaches, and it would enlarge easily to a 2mm dia hole without interfering with other aspects of the modular construction which makes these coaches so easy to dismantle and reassemble. There's even room to insert a wire hoop into the lower part of the headstock so as to create an almost matching 2mm "eye" lower down, although it wouldn't really be a good idea to fit a drilled plate or block in this area to create a hole rather than just an eye. Pictures will appear later if I get time.

* For the benefit of anybody puzzled by the "hole behind the headstock" business, it is required for compatibility with certain other Grantham guest-coaches carrying etched, rigid, "fixed rake" couplings.
