Hi Brian,

Streamlined sets will be the Coronation (complete and already tested successfully on the layout) and the Silver Jubilee (8-car formation). The SJ nears completion (chassis complete; tops just awaiting final details). We also a dynamometer car, so will simply run that with 3 of the Coronation twins as the Mallard test train .

Thanks for that, was asking as Ihave an SJ 8 set and was going to offer to bring it along, have plans for a shorterned tourist set but likely not to be ready by then

Is the SJ set to be ran in 1938 condition with Garter blue A4's at the head, or is the period to be slackened slightly to allow a full silver set with 2509 - 2512 at the head in silver/grey?

2511 wasn't painted blue until August 1938 - no slackening required!

I believe we are going for all Silvers with the SJ,

I need to see if I can pick up a Silver Link (looks very unlikely I know) but I now have acquired a photos 2509 on York Shed in 1935.

Yes I was referring to my own layout.
We are fine for Grantham though as Mark Allatt has all 4 Silvers....and the rest in Garter Blue.

Marc Models, I believe.

I visited Roy yesterday (to return the vehicles) and was shown the Kirk RF (new) and Triplet (being refurbished) which are also being worked on for Barrow Hill. With a certain Mr Wealleans of this parish working on a RF +TO pair and my existing triplet, we should be able to form up 4 reasonably convincing representative teak express rakes as well as the two streamliners. Plenty for the A4s to play with there I think!

Quick progress update.

Focus of the appearance at Barrow Hill is of course the 35 A4's, with the intention to give each one a run at least once over the weekend (although if you go on the Ticket Factory site to get your advance tickets, you'll see it says each one gets a run each day - gulp!)

So, I've worked out a way to create a display area for the A4's - here's a sneak preview:



Pride of place given over to 4468 (naturally!), with the others (when they're not having their run) lined up either side in a guard of honour. There is enough room to line up all 35 for a one-off photo-call.

We hope visitors will understand that we are still getting to grips with the operation of a new layout and will be running to a pre-arranged schedule (based on the 1938 timetable) for most of the weekend to provide maximum entertainment, not to mention the little matter of trying to keep tabs on running all 35 A4s.
