Ha... now that explains a question I had regarding the different rear steps I had noticed when looking round the A4's at the NRM.

Does DoC have a corridor tender? I can't remember off hand, but that looks like it might be a corridor connection in the background. Perhaps that is the primary difference...

It's an easy one to make, indeed I suspect that Hornby may have even released some models with the wrong underframe on! A couple of mine were running around with the wrong steps until I sorted them.

D of C does have a corridor tender. The steps are further back on the corridor tenders as the tender body is slightly longer - you can see the gap on the non corridor tender behind DDI!

You had me worried for a bit that I had miss filed my pics, yes it does have a corridor tender and just for you Richard.

Bachmann V2 upgraded as far as I could go without chopping the body to bits. This is horrible body as said so many times before.

Body rubbed down to remove hideous top seam . Re painted New numbers and Lettering as Bachmann use a wierd pale yellow/gold colour and Loco relined and additional lining added to Cab windows using HMRS decals. Front coupling nem pocket filled in.

Wills Chimney
Brassmasters etched Reversing and Ash pan levers. Floor supports and front steps.
Hornby A3 provided Dome, Smokebox Door,Oil box, Superheater Covers , Vacumn return pipe, snifting valve, front buffers, screw coupling and vacumn pipes.
Hornby A4 safety valves
Re glazed , new sandbox fillers, etched cabside sight screens,new front footplate handles and lamp Irons repositioned front frames thinned. Real coal ,etched fire irons and lostwax brake standards to tender.

I received a Branchlines price list this week and I see they list a replacement chassis and detailing pack for the Bachmann V2. Has anyone used it and is it any good?

I presume it is for the old style body with fittings for the old type chassis ?

Jonathan: TW used it under a NuCast lump and expressed satisfaction with the result. I do have various bits of etched V2 chasis from different sources lying around, possibly enough to make a whole one including driving wheels, although I'm not sure whether to keep the parts for my own use. Not sure if they would suit your plans either.
