I am but have only received parts 1-3 so far. Parts 4-7 should arrive from the publishers in the next week or so. Mine will be a later A3 with left hand drive conversion.

Going down the A3 route might not be a bad idea as looking at the mag detail & DVD the backhead of the model is A3 and not A1 so your onto a sure winner there

I have already modified the cab side sheets to suit a later A3 so I am hoping that they have got the backhead wrong and will supply an A3. If not Ragstone models sell an A3 backhead I can use.

Do you know if they sell an A1 head?

Great shot here of an O gaugel 4472 A3 backhead that seems to have some detail the DJH A3 head doesnt have.

Make sure you get the vacuum ejector exhaust pipe that runs end to end on the boiler on the correct side of the boiler as it needs to be on the left side for the A3

Yes are right about the ejector pipe. I have done this 3 times before on old Hornby 00 A1's. I just hope that unlike the hornby model the ejector is a seperate item and not moulded to the boiler.

How does the ejector pipe come off on the old hornby bodies? Is it an easy job or not? Lots of sanding and filling.
don't forget about the Great Eastern Railway

It dont look to be an integral part of the boiler, knowing DJH its likley to be a brass rod with supports along its length.

Yes on the old hornby pre superdetail A1's a lot of filling and sanding is needed. I used crownline parts on two and a finecast ejector on the last one I did. Finecast will sell all the parts seperately.

4472 carried the 1924 'special exhibition' polished finish for its 1st of May 1928 inaugural run, does anyone know how long this continued or at what point 4472 was painted to look as it does now?

Well mate, it looks like your dreams have been answered, the supplied head is exactly A3 and it seems they are going to also supply an A1 head too though later on :D

an interesting and fortunate (for me) cockup regarding the backhead. Does this mean there will be an extra issue to buy oris it bundled in with another one? I'm a direct subscriber, and a few issues behind

A leaflet note in 16 says a revised backhead will be supplied at iss 30, so am presuming the new backhead part will be supplied along with other parts in issue 30, otherwise we've been ripped off to the tune of £4.99 as its not our fault they got the first one wrong supplied in 16, can only but wait & see, dont know about you guys but am gettin a bit fed up with all these error's of one form or another
