Oh apologies Horsetan.... the saying went over my head!

Seems to suit his own attitudes having the 9F named and painted this way.

I'd often wondered how someone earned the name 'The Cock of the North'.
Reading the posts about 92214 I've now got an inkling.....

That's really looking 'the business' now. Come on Hornby, stop teasing us and just make the darn thing!

Very good as it is in most areas, I feel that the silver handrails (no doubt an attempt to "pick-out" the moulded ones to "match" the real ones) are an embellishment too many - it gives the thing the look of an over-decorated fairground showman's engine.

Maybe the photographer (or the man who told him to take the picture with the loco in that condition) deserves two slaps on the wrist too, for not checking that the crosshead was in the slidebars and the two portions of running plate lined up level behind the smokebox casing.......

G'day all
The footplate irregularity shows that Hornby have moulded the smokebox area separate from the main boiler. I am sure this will lead to the production of 2002 Earl Marischal, and 2003/4 and perhaps 2005 with its single chimney. 2006 would need a different boiler.
I'm looking forward to the production run.

This latest image has certainly piqued my interest. Graeme, I don't think that the crosshead has popped out of the slidebar so much - it ain't there. Oops. The bright handrails does give it an air of Mallard as she was restored for Clapham.

Does look like it is the RailRoad version, though. Looking at the pictures of the tender, the leading edges would hopefully be curved on the 'full-bodied' version?

Anything weird or unusual will catch my interest, be it an express or locomotive

I'm also drawn to the commemorative, let's hope Bachmann will produce 6165 Valour.

Despite the issues outlined about... WOW!

Who would have thought a couple of years ago that a P2 would be making it's way into production as a rtr model? 8)

Hopefully not !!

It appears to be a strange mixture of the two versions ?? that assumption is due to the plain white boiler bands and what appears to be moulded handrails including the boiler !! and the smokebox door handle , ugh !! if it ends up like this I dont think I will be buying one , hopefully I am wrong.

As usual its a mock up we will have to wait and see :D

The restricted image resolution doesn't really give decisive evidence, but use of my eyes in a forensic manner does suggest hints of a very fine (too fine relatively) black line down the centre of the boiler bands.

I agree with Brian now - there are no slidebars to see!

Mick is dead right too of course, this is a hand finished pre-prod model and there may already be revisions to the production tooling. But even if the final version has unsatisfactory details, surely buying one of these and titivating it up is miles easier and chaper that building one from the basics - if the bottom line is that you actually want one?
