I was at the Cross for the summer FP/Hornsey M&EE bash last Friday and noticed that the work at the front of the station is coming along well. Anybody got a date when the hoardings are due to come down?

What a great shot, and what a pity, they finished running as I started at the 'Cross'
Was the Ashburton Pullman ever steam hauled, I seem to remember reading that N2's used to work it, or am I on the wrong track, again

I wonder why the locos have been coupled that way round? I would have thought that the short bonnet end (probably a technical term ) leading would have improved the drivers view ahead.

The reason the two BTH's may have been coupled this way round is because the MU apparatus may have only worked this way.

The so called Ashburton Grove Pullman before 1963 was steam hauled usually with a B1 4-6-0 as far as Welwyn Garden City where I believe an N7 or sometimes a N2 tank took over, then after about 1960 I did hear of Class 20 diesels being used on the Blackbridge branch for a while then the double headed Paxmans took over the whole journey after 1963. Before that date it was Kings Cross train crews after that it was Hatfield crews.

Thank you sandwich, I didn't think a V2 would have got down the branch, they may have been able to use a D2, if there had been any left !!!

One of the might have beens as regards railway preservation. Long gone now but intriguing.
Was down at the Cross last week, had a job to work out where the BRSA, Earl Russell and Wellers Court were situated, it really has all been turned on its head, and not before time.

Micky mentioned earlier the Luton-Dunstable branch, this brings to mind a passenger working during the early 1960s of block enders which departed Moorgate around 16 20 with Kings Cross crews and ran all stations to Hatfield where Hatfield men took over and worked this train to Luton, it was a time when these said bock enders had a guards brake at each end and he had to ride in the front brake over this branch. If memory serves me right this Luton working finished in 1965 and a dmu taking over the then Hatfield terminator. Can anybody remember if there was anymore of these workings over this branch at around this time.
