Dwight D Eisenhow liveries

I am trying to find out exactly what liveries Dwight D Eisenhower carried and when they were on it. I know when it was renamed it was LNER Garter Blue with no valances, single chimney with a corridor tender. It was painted BR blue in 1950 and Brunswick Green in 1951. A non-corridor tender added in 1957 and a double chimney added in 1958. I want to have one repainted to use with early BR blood and custard coaches and want to know my options. I do not want Brunswick Green, though. Was it in Garter Blue with BRITISH RAILWAYS on the tender before it got BR blue like some were?

60008 - British Railways express passenger blue with early emblem on the tender from 14/06/50 till 09/10/51

60008 - British Railways green with early emblem on the tender from 09/11/51

Thanx very much! The new Bachmann 60008 is in late BR green with a corridor tender. Is that correct? I currently have a current Hornby A4 that was renamed and renumbered 60008. It is in late BR green but has a corridor tender and I was told it should have a non-corridor tender as it has had since 1957. Was there a short period where it had the late crest on the first tender or did Bachmann mess up?

Would you be able to post a few photos of your 60008? Profile, front 3/4 and rear 3/4 would be great.

With regards to the Bachmann 60008, it is incorrect as it has the wrong tender (she has never had a 1928 diagram corridor tender). Another point of note is that the nameplate backgrounds are wrong for both 'in service' in that livery and in preservation post January 2013. I've added a few more bits of info onto my other post. I thought the background on the name plate was supposed to be red, but it's not with the current repaint, although it was in Wisconsin and is on both the Hornby and Bachmann models. I will get some pics of my Hornby model today, yet. I'd really like to have 60008 in Garter Blue before BR blue, but don't know what RTR model to use for renumbering. It might be easier to do it in BR blue. I know Bachmann has done both liveries in their A4s.

The problem with this is that there is not currently an RTR A4 with 1935 corridor tender in either BR garter blue or BR passenger blue. Your only options are to either repaint a BR era example, or remove the valances of an LNER era example. There is to be an etched kit run to do this, from Simon Martin

Would this Bachmann model work to change the number and LNER to BRITISH RAILWAYS? I can't tell which tender it has. There is a Bachmann 60008 in BR blue but it has a non-corridor tender. How can a manufacturer mess up with which tender to use when it seems to be easy enough to find out?

You could use that. It does have a corridor tender. The thing is that Bachmann do not have tooling for a 1936 corridor tender, so it is a compromise of a 1928 corridor tender. Bachmann and Hornby have had trouble when it comes to LNER tenders

Oops, it looks like I made a mistake. It seems the Bachmann BR blue 60008 actually had a corridor tender as well, but I could not see it in the pic.

As for not being the right corridor tender, I can live with that.

I feel so stupid. lol After trying to figure out how to get the loco I want, I remembered I have the right loco to have renamed and numbered. This past spring I bought a Bachmann Garter Blue BRITISH RAILWAYS A4 named 'Sir Nigel Gresley. It was orginally LNER 'Miles Beever', but someone had it professionally renamed and numbered and had the LNER changed to BRITISH RAILWAYS. I bought it because I wanted an A4 in that livery, but I already have a BR blue 'Sir Nigel Gresley', so I sure don't need to keep that name on it. I am soooo glad I bought it when I did since some of the work is already done for me. Just the name and number has to be changed now.
