I have no idea if the location is correct, the person who obtained it says it just read Berwick on the back

sorry :(

Thanks Neil same pic as me exactly. The only possibile location we think would be to the North of Berwick Station with the three buildings being part of the old army camp to the left of the train but we cant resolve the pic to any definite location for sure.

Hi all
The site looks like Marshall meadows just north of Berwick.

That's the only location that fits but we cant reconcile the three tall buildings to left of train.

Am I missing something here? To the left of the loco are 4 rakes of coaches stabled in dead end sidings - 2 corridor and 2 non-corridor. The loco has just loosed off a train, or is just backing onto it.

To the left is the other running line then an additional line which could be a reception/access line for the carriage sidings.

To the right of the loco appears to be a station building with canopy, but there are no signals obviously apparent. Robb does not refer to any station at Marshall Meadows, so could it be Tweedmouth station with a possibly a train for the Kelso line? In which case the engine is backing onto the train

I might be way off track - any thoughts?

Well spotted, I hadn't noticed that the loco was not attached,in that case it doesn't fit Marshall meadows as there were no sidings there.

Looked at Old Maps and think the sidings fit with Tweedmouth fairly well. As I thought on the down main. The station was right on the edge of town so the rural stone wall - typical of a lot of the route around Berwick also fits - So I think that I am happy with Tweedmouth. Just needs a bit a few others who know the area to review and agree for a definite location

I, too, am puzzled about the location of 701. I do not think it either at Berwick or Tweedmouth. The loco has been detached from its train and there appears to be a station in the background. Furthermore there appear to be carriage sidings to the left. It was a Heaton Loco. As for 703 the latter was a Tweedmouth loco and the setting seems to be outside that shed. All in all a fine collection of photos.

Dixie I thought 703 might be outside the 4 road straight shed at Tweedmouth, but there is no real landmarks apart from the yard lamp it fits and could be Tweedmouth. 703 still not convinced its Berwick or Tweedmouth, ive run the pic past quite a few locals who are in agreement with me but can offer no suggestions to where the shot is taken from.
