Very convincing work as always Tom - you could easily rival the professional weathering people - you should set up in business!

I realise I've been quiet on here for sometime, but I have been working away but mostly posting on my blog.

I've done an all new Silurian, using two photos from the Summer of 1950 as my basis. The old Silurian will become 60129 of 52A.

Outstanding finish on the A1, looks like it came right out of a 1950s photograph. The soot on top of the locomotive is something many of us forget to add onto models. It really makes the weathering stand out. Inspirational work there Tom. :)

Some more photos of 60121 strutting her stuff around 50A's Yard. As she rolls under the coaling stage, we see V2 60977 backing off shed.

Evening Gents.
After not a lot activity, I'm now in a position to tell you of my recent plotting.
After seeing all 6 preserved A4s at York, I have now realised how gorgeous A4s look in Garter Blue (Pre War). Therefore i've decided to do a second operating period for Leaman Road.

Summer 1938

A4s in Garter Blue, Apple Green A1s and A3s and a mass of North Eastern Atlantics and 4-6-0s which had long gone by 1950.

I already have Two Gresley A1s (one of which will definitely be a York loco) plus a Super Detailed Mallard Model which shall be renumbered to 4901 'Capercaillie'.

Exciting times ahead, but done over a time period of a few years.

Strange that you should choose "Capercaillie". I have a Lilliput "Mallard" with horrid plastic nameplate. I decided to do a repaint and it had to be a Gateshead engine. The only choice for my time frame was "Capercaillie". Apart from Mallard there were four (I think) others with double Chimney pre 1940. 4901 was the only Gateshead engine in this four.

Hi Arthur. It was my thoughts on the name and the shed that decided me to model her. I'm going to pick another Mallard Model up at some point and do Pochard, using a spare single chimney I have.

Might have to purchase one of you B15s at some point too! ;)

Gresley A1s on Leaman Road look quite appropriate!
No renumbering required either!

I bought this loco at the Wigan Show while operating scottiedog's 'Stainsby' layout. It was a real steal at £60!
She is missing one front footstep so I'm going to add detail from the Brassmaster A1/A3 detail etch.

A few people have suggested replacing the wheels with markits. If this was BR period I certainly would, but the fact I would have to line out the bogie wheels and try and match Hornby's colour, I think I would prefer to keep the Hornby wheels.

A downside of this means I can't add the front frames and bogie splasher due to clearance issues with the hornby bogie wheels.

Now made an initial start on my 1938 period. Currently have 4 Pacifics. 3 Apple Green A1s and 1 A4. I've decided as mentioned previously to do Capercaillie and Gladiateur. One of the others will become Galtee More of Grantham shed, as there is a lovely colour photo of her on York Shed in 1937. I will try and stage the photo once she is named and weathered.
