Re: First P2 Pic from Hornby
Studied the test shot at Perth MRE yesterday and they have got the boiler cladding right (eliptical or egg shaped above the boiler centre line!)

I'm now even encouraged to believe that the upper sides of the boiler may have the correct shape as seen from above, viz:

Moving on to 2003 etc. a close study of these shows that the boiler cladding is not parallel along the top of the boiler so it would not be possible to do an easy modification of 2001 to a bugatti front.

Now for that I may have a cunning plan, not involving a turnip.

If you change your mind Graeme, I know a cunning fox who can get you a turnip shaped like a thingy.
Back (and forth) to sanity, did anyone get a good look at the bearings, contacts and drawbar?

Are not Hornby considering producing a model with the streamlined front end anyway?Saint Johnstoun wrote:Moving on to 2003 etc. a close study of these shows that the boiler cladding is not parallel along the top of the boiler so it would not be possible to do an easy modification of 2001 to a bugatti front.
(Although hopefully they won't do so until I've got some more money!)

I shall not bother to post duplicate replies but 'informed sources' have previously indicated that all members of the class will eventually be produced...

Re: First P2 Pic from Hornby
On trying to draw SK on the subject on Saturday last at the Perth MRE the answer was if the first model sold well then other members of the class would be produced. The chassis has been designed to allow for this.
Re: First P2 Pic from Hornby
Hattons reckon the P2 is due on or after Monday 23rd December 2013.
Re: First P2 Pic from Hornby
Wow, only just seen this. Impressive. I was resolutely not going to buy one since I can in no way justify it. Now I'm not so sure.

If SK did mention the chassis that way, you should have chipped in asking if it also converts to a 4-6-2...Saint Johnstoun wrote:On trying to draw SK on the subject on Saturday last at the Perth MRE the answer was if the first model sold well then other members of the class would be produced. If a Thompson rebuild is the answer... the question must have been daft to begin with!

Re: First P2 Pic from Hornby
The sample looks pretty good. Will have to find room for this on the loco roster.
