It is at Gateshead. Heading south.

The liveries suggest it is late 1950s to around 1960. no overhead electric warning flashes. More details when I have had a look at the refs.

I would like to know if this photo has been published elsewhere, and if so who it was credited to.

I bought this slide on Ebay and was assured that the copyright had passed to me, but I am always suspicious of these statements.

I don't think it is a ColourRail slide.

G'Day Gents

I've noticed that the loco has those small wing deflectors, Pretty Polly and Woolwinder, were two of the quartet.

I see no central doors in the articulated pair, so I think this may be an FO Twin from Coronation stock (Diag.229). In that case I wonder whether this might be the Talisman set.

The light would certainly by right for the afternoon Talisman, leaving Newcastle about 6.15pm.

60055 was fitted with the small deflectors in October 1959, the first of the four to get them.

Given the lighting in the picture it must be taken in 1960, or maybe summer 1961. It was withdrawn 4-9-61.

The slide is by J P Mullett, listed in an old Colour-Rail catalogue BRE264. Dated June 1960.

Thanks for that John.

I always had my doubts about the copyright business, although the slide that I have has no ColourRail branding on it and if it has been deleted from the current catalogue, it explains why I could not find it.
