Not much been going on, I've stocked on hooks as the spares box was empty, these Ambis hooks are very good, just fold over and solder up.

Plus a very quick Parkside conversion over the bank holiday..you can tell it was rushed. The buffers are MJT sprung, but instead of turning over the wire end I stick a bit of GPO wire insulation on, this stops the end catching on the side frames. I just do enjoy bending bits of wire to form handles etc, as you can tell.

Wow, the postman has just dropped off several boxs from Mr Pinnock, inc a pigeon van for that well known traffic . The postman wondered why I was so happy, my work think I'm insane now.

Well in the last week I've managed to put the Cambrian wagon through the paint shops, primed and now painted in Vallejo grey and black, the grey I used is Neutral Grey as an experiment, to find a grey like LNER grey. It's ok a bit light in the pics, darker in reallity, I'm going to use it again, I want to develope a range of grey shades to simulate the way paint was mixed and weathered, ie. all the same colour temp but different intensities.

Another I managed to paint, again built about 12 years ago, I'm not sure what it is as I did not date or mark the dia on it, I try to date and ref all my built stuff now, sad I know. Still I gave it a coat of grey primer then a coat of Vallejo London Grey.
Then disaster...... dropped it....bugger. I've stuck the w irons back on with epoxy (they were super glued which was strange as I solder most bits on a white metal kit) Just need new buffers.
Does anybody know what it might be....3 plank open.....I think it is NER.

Also got this David Geen NER Dia F4 perishables van primed in Halfords red & grey primer over the weekend.
As you can see this was built in 2003 oh so long ago.
Did they loose the Westinghouse brake in LNER days, (mid 30's) as I see I've built it with only the vac brake. I still have the other bits so can easily be added, but no instructions to check against.

A lot of vehicles did lose the Westy equipment from about 1930, so you're probably on safe ground.

I agree with Jonathan about the Westinghouse brake gear.
Dave a look at the brake lever may confirm whether your open wagon kit is a NER diagram. If it has a turned-up projection at the end, it is North Eastern.
The postman has been busy here too. No 4-wheeled vans yet Jonathan.

Thanks Jonathan, I thought I must have been on the right track in those days....I used to know what I was doing then.
John, stop the clock I've found it.... the wagon does have turned up ends to the brakes, and after a bit of searching last night I say it's a David Geen kit of a NER Dia B1 2 plank open...where did I get 3 planks from...never mind back to the gin.

I've managed to start another one...but finished nothing yet.
A Parkside LNER horsebox.
Here is the progress so far this week.
It's easier to start somthing than finish.
Oh and the D10C has come out of the loft and is waiting for me to line it soon.

Thank you IAK, I do like bending bits of wire.
Well I have given the NER van 2 coats of Vallejo game colour dark flesh tone 72.044 as an experiment to see how it looks as LNER red oxide, I think it looks ok, any thoughts, but remember these pics are not colour adjusted.

At long last a bit of progress, I've got all the seats and tables on a baseplate which will be drilled and bolted through the floorplate, I originally had them all fixed to 20thou individual bases, so it was a delicate job cutting the old bases off. This base is 20thou plastic with 2 stiffening strips to stop it warping, and to also help I epoxy glues everything in place rather than use plastic weld as normal.
I damaged a curtain in fitting it all in, so there is one to replace, luckily I kept the template and the left over painted paper so I can replace it easily.
In its holiday in the loft all carefully wrapped, 3 steps managed to come off and all but 1 louvre vent fell off, the steps have been epoxy glued on now (not ca as before) but I must find a glue for the louvres that will stick without fogging, and onto that famous acrylic floor finish.
