Hi all,
Originally, Eaglescliffe station had four platforms - two islands with two faces each - and served both the Darlington - Saltburn branch and the Leeds Northern line. Does anybody have any information about which services and lines used which platforms?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Jon

Re: Eaglescliffe Station Platforms
I seem to think that they used the appropriate platfrom edge for the particular journey but I do not have documentary evidence. There were numerous crossovers to service this use of platforms. Does anyone remember there being a pub [station bar?] situated on the overbridge?
Re: Eaglescliffe Station Platforms
Many years ago in Kew Public Record Office I found an ancient signalling instruction from the days when it was called Preston Junction and effectively 2 separate stations - Stockton & Darlington and Leeds Northern, I think I still have a photocopy of it. My guess would be that the island nearest the entrance would be for York/Ripon/Whitby services and the furthest would be for Darlington trains.
