You've been down under too long, mate. They're the sugar tongs for if the Inspector has a sweet tooth or any other bowler hats turn up.

Well, thanks to some helpful photos from Mick and Peter Tatlow's book, I think I've worked out where all the complicated bits go. For anyone else who might be building one, including me in the future, here it all is balanced in place. If you think it's wrong, please tell me soon as I'm off to square some of those castings up then it's all going together.

Starting to look like something recognisable now. I've substituted tapered buffers for the parallel ones supplied. I've also stuck the floor on upside down - plonker. Cylinders and boiler pipework to do and then await the wheels, which I believe are on their way from Scaleforum at the moment.

Pretty much there - I will add some more bits and bobs to make to look more like the Sunderland one. Does anyone know of any pictures of the other side of that one?

If anyone knows what the two bits in front are for, I'd be much obliged.

Clear and complete instructions strike again?

Not that any defect in the instructions appears to be preventing you from building the kit up VERY nicely......
Most subjects, models and techniques covered in this thread are now listed in various categories on page1

Actually, the instructions were probably very precise, but referring to parts by their correct name doesn't help if there's nothing to relate the names to the pile of very fiddly looking bits in the box. A clear case where a picture would have been worth many more than 1000 words.

Waiting for wheels now, so I can move on to something else this week.... probably decorating, sadly.

Jonathan
The item on right are the running wheels for the base of the crane at the front (I think). The other "pulley" piece is not on mine ,so I must have ignored or never got it in the kit !!

Hi Mick,

Paul G commented the same on RMWeb - but I can't make them fit on there now and they're all but invisible, so they're staying in the box. Paul also commented that he couldn't find the other bit on his, so he went back to the box (that's very organised of him) and found the same piece in there, unused. I'll ask Danny when I next see him if I remember.

Your pictures were a great help, thanks again for those.

Mine has also got another casting which goes behind the mounting hole with another represenation of the wheels which balances the crane on the footplate . I think you need to fit them !! I will do another picture if not obvious on the ones you have. I laso removed the stops at the rear of the footplate as they stop the crane moving on bends.
