She is starting to really look the business. That shade of garter blue is exquisite too.

Can't wait to see them all lined up!

The excitement is building exponentially. I am really looking forward to seeing her in the flesh when finished. The single chimney really does change the look of that front end.

Somewhat belatedly follow the link and see my selection of both "Blue'uns" at Shildon taken back in October. I certainly never really thought I'd get the chance to see either "Ike" or Dominion of Canada. What's more it's really nice to see at least Canada being restored to full LNER livery with the bell and skirt. Having said that though from all accounts Dominion of Canada was always a poor steamer no matter what, over her career. After all we've all heard of tales of one engine steaming on a candle yet the next of the same class wouldn't steam no matter what, even with a white hot fire made up with the best steam coal available........ One thing I also liked was that another pair of older East Coast "Fliers" were there as well the Great Northern Stirling Single No1 and North Eastern M1 4-4-0 1621

Yes, the collection at Shildon is stunning - better than York now in my opinion, with GNR 1, NER 1621, NER 1 (Quayside Electric ES1 BO-BO) and other pre-grouping beauties

Indeed a "modern" take on the old Queen Street Museum at York. I used to have some embarressing photos taken in the late 60's of myself there.

Just looking at Neil's selection of photos of DoC, one thing has crossed my mind. It would have been nice to see an Apple Green A4 with a black skirt, green wheels and the standard style lettering as per 4771 Green Arrow, if only fleetingly. I say that as I believe that there have been traces of the aforementioned apple green. OK there's the cost angle in the current economic climate, but hey it would have given the engine an extra layer of painted protection for the future.......

There's an excellent photo here on Flickr showing her in almost all over blue undercoat now. She's going to look fabulous when she's done.
